The hundred-year history of Rolls-Royce exerts the same fascination as the car itself. Charles Rolls was a wealthy young aristocrat who developed a love for automobiles while studying mechanical engineering at Cambridge University; he was the first student to own a motor-car. He was also one of the first to start a dealership in automobiles. In contrast, Henry Royce had humble roots and, whilst working as an apprentice, he got interested in engineering and found he had a natural talent. He was a perfectionist: when his second-hand car revealed construction faults he was so annoyed that he immediately decided to build his own car. In 1904, these two engineering talents got together and set out to make the best car in the world, which they did. Indeed, Rolls-Royce was, and still is, synonymous with high performance and excellence. Our company buys prestige cars such as Rolls-Royce, and our expert team is ready to take care of all the paperwork and details for you.
In 1907, Rolls-Royce produced the Silver Ghost which was the height of comfort and reliability, even when put to the test on the tough Alpine Trail in 1913. It performed so well that critics declared it the best car in the world. The 1920s saw the production of the Phantom and the first aviation engines. A prospering middle class in the 1930s were eager customers for Phantoms II and III. As the company grew, new designs produced the coach-built Silver Wraith and Silver Dawn (1940s)
No other car turns heads and creates excitement as much as a Rolls-Royce. They are a rare sight on the roads, but they are out there, and in ever increasing numbers. The sale of these prestigious super-luxury vehicles has been growing steadily: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars reports record sales during the last year.
The Phantom V was delivered to Princess Elizabeth in 1950. This is a rare jewel. It was conceived specially for royalty and heads-of-state and only 18 cars were ever produced. In 1965 John Lennon bought a Phantom V and had it painted in bright colours; it is now a unique and valuable piece of pop memorabilia. If you want to sell your Rolls Royce, remember that we buy and reverently care for all rare and beautiful cars.
The company split into two in the 1970s and by 1980 it was part of Vickers.
